Two Ways

This was a day in two outfits.

First, I had work.

Later that day, I had book club. We stopped reading the same book, instead we eat. The theme was “fancy,” so here is me fancy after changing into curls and lace.

I would never pick this for myself nor wear this usually, but my mom sent this to me. It was so skanky, lol, I wore a skirt underneath to make it longer.

Canyon

Truth: I pretty much hate being outdoors.

BUT.

I absolutely love looking at stuff outdoors!

I’m not sure how to deal with this.

Many of the things on my travel bucket list are not tall buildings in big cities or cultural centers of civilizations– no, it’s pretty much all nature based: Grand Canyon, Aurora Borealis, the icebergs in Argentina. I am strangely obsessed with pretty outdoor things, but I hate bugs, deep water, heights, and feeling clammy. #firstworldproblems

On the way home last week, I begged to visit a place an hour away from where we were: apparently the “Little Grand Canyon,” one of the “Seven Wonders of Georgia” found in Providence Canyon State Park. Here’s what’s weird about it: it’s all man made! Poor farming in the late 19th Century led to this! Whoa. I loved it. My husband… not so much. While I was being all brave and climbing on everything, he truly disliked it. We came ill-prepared with our iPhones and my digital camera, wearing our flip flops, not bringing water. Tsk tsk. If I did further research before driving all the way out there, I would have known that the experience would be akin to hiking. We have never been hiking. I do not even own sneakers. We lost cell phone connection for a good two areas in that area of Georgia. To be that disconnected… we really feared we would die and no one would know where we are (we forgot to say where we were going- never make that same mistake).

Truth be told, I never saw the amazing canyon floor like the pictures showed online, but I saw enough to tide me over. Thank you, husband! Then we went to Cracker Barrel, the real treasure of the South.

Orlando Food Truck Bazaar

So, I like food.

I like food so much, I eat to my heart’s content and pay badly for it. LOLs! Goodness me, if I could, I’d eat biscuits and Chex Mix everyday. Or food trucks…

Every month, as a date, my husband and I go across the street to where the Orlando Food Truck Bazaar meets near the Fashion Square Mall thanks to The Daily City. By no means are we adventurous, but it makes us feel hip, being surrounded by all the hipsters, people with cute puppies, and adorable families. We’re just plain awkward. We’re lucky that the bazaar happens so close to home- anywhere else, and we’d be scared to go. Obviously we only hang out in places a mile away from our home. The Food Truck Bazaar works well if you have a plan. This is serious business, y’all. Bring portable chairs and tables. You do not want to sit in ants like I do all the time. Bring cash, but know what most trucks can process credit cards through Square. Don’t all just stand in line together at one truck: divide and conquer that delicious goodness. Walk around and see what you really want before you commit. Try something new. Our favorites are Cafe Rouge Express (delicious sausage rolls and fish and chips), Korean BBQ Taco Box (great box dinner bulgogi), La Empanada (best truck design ever, and we go only for the buffalo chicken empanada because we are not adventurous), and the Crepe Company (one word: Nutella).

Here are some pictures from last month. Now, I am not a professional photographer by any means, but I do like taking pictures of my food. :) Try this out some time!

Reviva Seaweed Soap!

Recently on the FB page for the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers, we all chimed in on how we felt about the Reviva Seaweed Soap. Reviva Labs was a sponsor of the May meetup, and many in our group were surprised at how high quality their products were for a company we had not heard of before. The soap was very interesting to review because we were all split on how we felt about it. Everyone needs to use soap, how did I like it? Read on for my take after a few pictures.

This is my usual soap: Dove Unscented. I prefer Dove because I love a bar soap, and the quality has never let me down. My husband does not like fragrance, so we get the unscented.

Dove, and just bar soap in general, is favored by my because it lathers so well and is easy to handle. I tried to be like the cool people and use the shower pouf and shower gel, but it’s just weird. When I ran out of soap one day, I gave this one a try. This soap lasted me almost two weeks. On a whim, I decided that I wouldn’t put on body lotion afterwards. Why? I wanted to see if the soap left a film- I strongly dislike that, ugh.

I used the soap until I had a tiny little nubbin left. My thoughts? I loved the scrubby bits. I would prefer this soap to other exfoliating types that I have tried because it actually felt like it was working. The pieces of seaweed were rough in a good way, and I liked how it felt. I’m sure the tidbit about people in Spain using it for anti-cellulite is something I should do, too. It’s a feel good product in the shower. The soap rinsed off well and did not leave a film. My skin was not dried out, and I wasn’t ashy, which is my biggest skin concern when using bar soaps. My biggest con against the product is the scent. I am a person who loves sweet or fruity. Earthy simply isn’t my thing. BUT, I have heard others in the blogger group loved that scent. I could see this scent being preferred by men as well. I couldn’t get over it. Every time I used this soap, I was like, “Oh, I love you, scrubby soap, but I do not like this smell…”

After the two weeks, I went back to my normal soap, and I missed the scrubby goodness. I’d buy the soap again just for that, and while I was not a fan of the all-natural scent, the feeling that the product is working trumps that for me. ;)

Dondon

Today is my little brother’s birthday! Last week, my husband and I took a short road trip to see him graduate from boot camp. I’m a proud big sis. I was happy for the tiny break, and I loved seeing my family for the first time in over a year. :)

China Glaze Prism

I didn’t have a lot of time before I embarked on a recent road trip, so I slapped some glitter on my previous NOTD and called it a night. Little did I know it’d look fabulous, even without the sun to bring out its glory.

I Know What Boys Want

So…… I’m a collector of nail polish…… and I don’t use half of it. It happens. Let’s just say that even though I change my polish about 5/6 times a week, I think I’ll be set for untrieds for almost the next year. For example, today’s nail of the day: I purchased this beauty last year and never opened it. It just sat in its box all lonely until the next summer. I love it, though.

Earthy

These colors seemed so appropriate for autumn, my favorite time of year for clothing. This day, I was simply itching to wear a dark berry color– not usual for a nice June day, but it was a nice change of pace from brights. It really was a beautiful day.
